Presentation Title:
“The Evolving State of Identity and Access at Eaton”
Topic Abstract:
The intent of this presentation is to describe the
physical and logical systems landscape at Eaton, a large, global, premier
diversified industrial manufacturer, and the series of challenges faced in
managing information about the identity of internal and external users, as well
as securing their access to various resources. The state of identity and access
needs at Eaton continues to progress, in part due to changes in business
strategy, including Eaton’s interest in taking advantage of the opportunities
created by the Internet of Things (IoT). Eaton’s broader foray into Cloud
initiatives to gain operational efficiencies or deliver new service
capabilities is presenting new challenges to the Enterprise Identity and Access
team, as is our Information Security strategy to move towards more of a
zero-trust model. This presentation will look back at some historical goals for
IAM at Eaton and what we’ve learned, as well as what we’re currently
contemplating to navigate the muddy waters ahead.
